After the Early-Deceased White Moonlight of a Wealthy Family Returns (GL) - Chapter 23
Beating a monkey into the ground is one thing; provoking a tiger on a mountain is quite another.
His pectoral muscles were so large they were an eyesore; Shen You’an found the sight annoying. She had to admit the man before her had trained seriously—every line on his body was forged through sweat. But she really hated topless men. Fortunately, she had the rabbit mask on; otherwise, her expression of utter disgust would have been impossible to hide.
“Tiger” had golden hair styled in small Brazilian braids, which, combined with his face, created a truly intimidating aura. He looked positively vicious.
The spectators below were screaming with passion.
“Tiger! Crush her!”
“Wooo Tiger! K.O.! K.O.!”
Tiger bounced in place a couple of times, adjusting his movements, his eyes locked onto the rabbit in front of him.
The rabbit seemed entirely indifferent, still standing there with her hands behind her back, showing zero inclination to prepare.
There was truly nothing to prepare for, Shen You’an thought. If it weren’t for the sake of twenty thousand yuan, she would have wanted to rush up and finish him in a single move. There was no other reason; she really just detested male pectorals.
She had seen too many topless men in the apocalypse; she hadn’t expected to see them back here too.
It’s my own fault for trying to earn money, Shen You’an thought resignedly.
On a professional boxing ring, every inch of the floor connects the fighters. Tiger could naturally feel that his opponent’s mind was not on him at all.
To him, this was a deeply humiliating form of contempt.
Biting down on his golden mouthguard, Tiger let out a roar and launched an attack. Due to his explosive speed, the muscles of his shoulders and back snapped tight.
“Knock her down!” a wild man below roared. “Tiger, show her what you’ve got!”
Tiger’s punches were both fast and heavy.
Every fighter who competed in this ring had tasted his fists. Everyone knew that a clean hit from him meant, at best, spitting blood, and at worst, broken bones.
Either way, it never ended well.
Tiger rarely opened a first round with such an all-out assault. Today was an exception.
Meng Dongdong let out a shriek, covering her eyes with both hands, not daring to look.
It’s over! Dongdong thought. If Xiao An’s head isn’t preserved, my own head won’t be far from the chopping block either.
“Get her!”
“Holy shit—”
“………. My god.”
In the arena, the voices of the spectators rose and fell in violent waves. Meng Dongdong was dying of curiosity; she shifted her fingers, creating a gap between her index and middle fingers to peek down.
“Holy crap,” Dongdong’s jaw nearly hit the floor. “Is this acting too?!”
Tiger’s supposedly unstoppable signature punch was effortlessly parried by the rabbit, as if she were deflecting a thousand pounds with four ounces of force. In the next second, utilizing the close proximity created by his charge, her pink glove slammed brutally into his face.
A mess of blood and flesh.
The rabbit didn’t stop.
She closed in relentlessly, pinning him in the corner, landing solid punches one after another on Tiger’s firm, bronzed abdominals.
Anyone could see she was striking with lethal intent.
Tiger tried desperately to endure, but he couldn’t last ten seconds. His legs went weak, and he collapsed onto the canvas. Having boxed for nearly ten years, rising from obscurity to fame, Tiger had lost on stage before and had certainly been beaten. After all, every boxer hears the saying: To learn to hit, you must first learn to be hit.
But…
An opponent this ruthless, this decisive, and this full of killing intent…
This was the first time Tiger had encountered such a thing.
As he lay on the ground gasping for air, he didn’t even have the capacity to listen to the referee’s ten-second countdown. Only one thought echoed in his mind: Just what kind of monster is standing across from me right now?!
The entire venue fell silent.
Backstage, the companion guarding “Skinny Monkey” was dumbfounded, muttering: “Was Tiger bought off too?”
Monkey: “…Bought my ass, that’s just how terrifying that rabbit is!”
It defied common sense; it was illogical. This was simply a monster!
The spectators were silent for a long time before finally erupting into thunderous cheers. Although some still harbored doubts, long-time fans of the sport understood that this was fought with real, raw power.
“One more match!”
“Rabbit! Fight! Keep going!”
Shen You’an felt a bit of momentum. She shook her arms, which had just finished warming up. She was hesitating whether to accept the next challenger when the rabbit head turned and froze.
Why is Su Wu here?!
Without a second thought, Shen You’an vaulted over the high ring ropes with one hand and sprinted toward the backstage area without hesitation.
Meng Dongdong still hadn’t recovered from the fact that “this friend actually seems incredibly tough.”
Ji Lan reminded her: “Your friend looks like she’s seen a ghost; she suddenly ran back.”
Dongdong: “Huh? What?”
Ji Lan pointed to the area directly across from their private box. Meng Dongdong looked over.
Dongdong: “…”
With a single glance, her soul returned to her body in a panic.
She couldn’t fathom why You’an could fight so well, but she knew very well that if Sister Su Wu found out she had brought You’an here, she would be dead meat.
Meng Dongdong pleaded with the person beside her: “Auntie, please, please help us hide this.”
Ji Lan: “Help how?”
Dongdong gestured toward Su Wu’s direction. “That’s my friend’s sister. Auntie, you must hide it from her. I’m going to find her so we can slip away. I beg you, don’t tell anyone about today.”
Ji Lan: “I can, but what’s in it for me?”
Dongdong: “Huh?”
Ji Lan: “Your friend is very interesting. I’ll cover for you today, but next time I invite you two, you cannot refuse.”
Dongdong said hurriedly, “I won’t, I won’t, I won’t.”
Her mind didn’t have room for anything else; her only thought was: Escaping is the priority!
With Ji Lan’s permission, Dongdong rushed out of the box to the backstage. In the private dressing room assigned to Shen You’an today, she pushed the door open to find You’an had already nimbly changed back into her previous clothes. She hadn’t taken a single punch; she looked clean and beautiful, as if nothing had happened.
Dongdong said frantically: “Xiao An, quick, Sister Su…”
She was a bit incoherent.
Shen You’an’s logic was clearer: “Grab all the stuff, we’re leaving now.”
She grabbed Dongdong’s wrist and led her out. After running about ten meters, Shen You’an suddenly braked.
“No,” she said. “Su Wu and Ji Lan are coming up.”
Dongdong: “What? Impossible! I didn’t see anyone!”
Shen You’an couldn’t explain; she had smelled Su Wu’s scent in the air. Heightened senses were one of her abilities since her mutation. Especially after the excitement of a fight, the sharpness of her senses hadn’t had time to dial back; everything was vivid.
The woman’s faint woody fragrance—initially it felt like a silent winter, but now it was as if white tea was quietly blooming.
It was Su Wu, without a doubt. When they slept together in the hotel at Luoshui, Shen You’an had memorized this scent.
Shen You’an and Meng Dongdong were trapped. There was only one stairway exit ahead. The two scrambled back into the room they just left, and Shen You’an immediately double-locked the door.
Initially, Dongdong thought Shen You’an was having a nervous breakdown. “Xiao An, are you too stressed? I didn’t even see a sign of Sister Su Wu.”
Just as Shen You’an was about to speak, her nose twitched. She immediately clamped her hand over Dongdong’s mouth and nose.
Dongdong’s eyes went wide.
Outside the door, in the corridor, Su Wu’s voice drifted in clearly.
“Miss Ji, your business is quite large.”
“CEO Su, don’t tease me. This bit is nothing compared to yours. Speaking of which, when did you become interested in boxing?”
“Just now.”
The sound of footsteps and conversation drew closer.
Dongdong pried Shen You’an’s hand away, feeling so desperate she wanted to cry. She muttered in a voice like a mosquito: “Xiao An, oh Xiao An, is there still hope for me if I kneel down the moment I see Sister Su Wu?”
Shen You’an pursed her lips, scanned the room, and finally fixed her gaze on the half-open window.
The sea breeze of Lingang blew in fiercely.
Meng Dongdong thought, It’s over, this kid is going to do something drastic again.
