After the Early-Deceased White Moonlight of a Wealthy Family Returns (GL) - Chapter 28
“Are you going to play?” Seeing that Meng Dongdong had actually managed to invite Su Wu, Meng Xi remarked in amazement and teased, “Who was it just now that said this is only for kids and didn’t want to join the fun?”
Su Wu replied, “Can’t an old person want to stretch their bones and muscles a bit?”
Meng Dongdong also counterattacked her sister, pouting at her, “None of your business! If Sister Su Wu wants to play, she plays! Why so many words!”
Meng Xi: “Who was the one begging me just now?”
Meng Dongdong: “That was then, this is now, hmph! Who told you to admit defeat before even fighting, boosting others’ morale and destroying our own! I declare! For the next two hours, you are not my sister! Sister Su Wu is my sister!”
Meng Xi: “Tch, you didn’t even ask if Su Wu is willing to have a silly sister like you.”
To the side, Su Wu was picking a cue, with Shen You’an standing by her.
“I remember you don’t know how,” Su Wu said, “Did you learn later?”
Shen You’an shook her head.
“Try this one.” Su Wu picked one out, felt it in her hand, and handed it to Shen You’an.
“What are you panicking for?” Seeing her nervous look as if facing a great enemy, Su Wu told her, “I’ll guide you for the first shot, and leave the rest to me.”
How would she guide her?
Shen You’an didn’t understand at first, thinking Su Wu would stand aside and give verbal instructions from a distance. When they approached the billiards table, Su Wu stood behind her, her fingers pressing against her spine with a bit of force: “Lean down a bit more.”
Only then did Shen You’an realize.
The “guiding a shot” Su Wu mentioned was actually this kind of guidance.
The woman stood right against her back. They had similar builds, and Su Wu, wearing boots, was just a tiny bit taller than Shen You’an. She used her fingers to lead Shen You’an in adjusting her posture, leaning close beside her in an almost identical stance.
Shen You’an’s ponytail had scattered to her chest because of the movement; Su Wu grabbed it and placed it behind her back.
“Deep breath,” Su Wu said.
Shen You’an obediently followed suit.
“Do you see that cue ball?” Su Wu asked, “Follow my movements, use a little less force. I’ll say three, two, one, and you strike it.”
Shen You’an said with difficulty, “Okay.”
They were too close. She thought that she couldn’t even clearly hear what Su Wu was saying or teaching. She was enveloped by that unique scent belonging to a woman—the same as in her dream—like a normal dark night where spring rain quietly arrives, swallowing the world.
To control the power and direction of this shot, Su Wu’s hand held hers, her palm covering Shen You’an’s hand. Where they overlapped, the cold and warm temperatures merged.
Looking slightly to the side and back, Su Wu’s fair, swan-like neck was right before her eyes.
The blood vessels were clearly visible, and the sensation of her canine teeth piercing the skin in her dream sent another shiver through her nerves.
Shen You’an was hungry.
She swallowed her saliva and bit her lower lip hard, forcing herself to stay clear-headed.
“Focus your attention.” Su Wu easily caught her distraction, “You don’t want us to miss on the very first shot, do you?”
Shen You’an nodded earnestly.
She was trying hard to focus, but this woman was just so damn fragrant.
She felt ashamed of her disgraceful dream, and guilty for the predatory appetite naturally produced deep in her body right now.
Shaking her head to clear her mind of wild thoughts, Shen You’an looked at the cue ball in front of her.
Su Wu’s hand overlapped with hers, and the other hand circled her waist to help control her posture: “Three, two, one.”
Bang—!
The cue ball was struck away, traveling in a straight line. After hitting the cushion, it turned due to the force and knocked a nearby ball into the pocket.
Meng Dongdong let out a huge sigh of relief and cheered. From that reaction, anyone who didn’t know better would think Shen You’an and Su Wu had already won the match. In fact, this was only the first ball.
She felt a slight weight on her head.
Su Wu ruffled her hair: “Well done.”
“Go rest now.”
The two gentle pats were like coaxing a well-behaved puppy.
Shen You’an told her “Good luck” and quickly moved to the side, sitting on a chair in the waiting area. Beneath her jacket, her inner shirt was damp with sweat.
She watched Su Wu.
No wonder Meng Dongdong had invited Su Wu to the table.
Su Wu was truly proficient in this; she was in her element. The way she leaned half-crouched over the table was as graceful as a snow leopard—limbs extended, steady, and confident. All the balls on the table were her prey.
Shen You’an didn’t understand billiards, but she could see that every one of Su Wu’s shots was clean and beautiful. The crisp sound of collisions and the cheers after balls dropped into pockets rang out continuously in the room, never stopping.
When Su Wu focused on one thing, it made people unconsciously fix their eyes on her.
“Too cool.” Meng Dongdong turned into a total fangirl without hesitation, “Sister Su Wu is too cool. If it were me, I would have picked the one in the bottom right just now, but she actually dared to use a draw shot across the table to go straight for the top one.”
“Holy crap, Sister Su Wu’s waist, her back…” Meng Dongdong’s mouth was practically watering, “Can I be reborn and get a different big sister? Ahhh! Sister is killing me!”
“The last ball!” Meng Dongdong said beside Shen You’an, unable to suppress her excitement, “The last ball! She’s about to clear the table in one go!”
Everyone in the room held their breath at this moment.
Shen You’an also grew nervous along with them.
She saw Su Wu lean down. Without the trench coat in the way, the waistline created by her inner shirt and jeans was obvious. Her fluffy hair was gathered to the other side, so Shen You’an could clearly see her beautiful profile and her calm, rational eyes.
Stroke, force, strike, pocketed.
The room went silent for three seconds before thunderous cheers and applause erupted.
Ji Lan, admitting her inferiority, stepped forward: “CEO Su, you won.”
Su Wu stood straight, holding the cue in one hand: “Miss Ji, this isn’t a work setting, no need to call me that.”
“Su Wu,” Ji Lan corrected herself, “You can call me by my name directly, too.”
“I saw you didn’t plan to join in at first, why the sudden change?” Ji Lan asked.
Su Wu: “Just a whim.”
Ji Lan saw Meng Dongdong and Shen You’an behind her and raised an eyebrow knowingly: “You really dote on your juniors.”
“And you really cherish your girlfriend,” Su Wu countered without losing ground.
Ji Lan: “She’s not my girlfriend, we’re just hanging out lately. But she really likes that bag; I wonder if you could part with it? I’ll buy it.”
Su Wu took the bag handed over by the shopkeeper.
“I can’t make that decision,” Su Wu said, “You have to ask her.”
Su Wu handed the bag to Shen You’an, who had crowded over with Meng Dongdong.
“This lady wants to buy this bag,” she said.
Shen You’an had a headache just seeing Ji Lan. Meeting Ji Lan’s smile, she hadn’t even thought of how to refuse when she heard Meng Dongdong say impatiently: “Not for sale! Not for sale! Auntie, if you really want to give a fragrant bag to a beauty, find your own way!”
“I’m so hungry.” Meng Dongdong turned to Shen You’an and said, “An-jie, let’s go eat. Don’t stay here; the air is foul and it’s stifling.”
Throwing a tantrum, she pulled Shen You’an and left.
Meng Xi brought up the rear, saying to Ji Lan: “Auntie, Dongdong is…”
“I know,” Ji Lan said, “She has a child’s temper. You guys go eat, I’ll take her to buy a bag.”
Meng Xi nodded and bid her farewell.
She watched her little sister’s figure walking ahead with an arrogant air and couldn’t help but sigh in her heart.
After dinner that day, the limited edition Birkin bag still ended up in Meng Dongdong’s hands, along with that little hamburger.
Meng Dongdong refused repeatedly, but Shen You’an forced it on her, and she stopped arguing.
“Sister, you’re so good to me.” Meng Dongdong wanted to cry, “And Sister Su Wu, wahh, I love you guys to death.”
Before leaving, Meng Dongdong grabbed Shen You’an to whisper: “An-jie, today I was able to hold my head high and take back this bag entirely because of Sister Su Wu. We sisters are of one heart, like grasshoppers on a single string… no, like birds of a feather… no. Ahh, anyway, you are me and I am you; you must thank Sister Su Wu again for me.”
Shen You’an kept it in mind.
When Su Wu took her for her second meal, she relayed these words to her.
“A-jie, Dongdong said she’s especially grateful to you.”
Su Wu took a sip of the lotus root soup in front of her: “It’s a small thing.”
“Will you be unhappy that I gave her the bag, A-jie?” Shen You’an asked.
“I guessed as much before I even agreed to your request.” Su Wu wiped the corner of her mouth with a tissue, “That’s just your personality—always willing to give things others like to them.”
“It’s not entirely like that,” Shen You’an clarified for herself, “I just really wasn’t that interested in that bag.”
“Weren’t you quite fond of that little hamburger headphone case?” Su Wu asked.
“It’s nice to have, but it’s okay if I don’t,” Shen You’an replied.
Su Wu thought that Shen You’an didn’t have this kind of personality before.
She used to fight for the things she liked.
Or was it just because the person beside her now was Su Wu, not Shen Huaijin, so she was a bit reserved?
She crumpled the used tissue into a tiny ball and inconspicuously tossed it into the trash can under the table.
“What about me?” Su Wu asked, seemingly at random.
The question was so abrupt that Shen You’an didn’t even react.
“What?”
“If Meng Dongdong or someone else wanted to exchange sisters with you,” Su Wu said, “Would you switch?”
“No,” Shen You’an answered without a second thought.
She felt her answer seemed a bit exaggerated and quickly tried to explain further: “People aren’t objects, they can’t be exchanged. A-jie, your question is very strange.”
“What are you laughing at?”
Su Wu: “Am I?”
Her gaze fell on Shen You’an’s lips: “I’ve wanted to ask since just now—this.” She raised her hand and pointed to the same spot on her own lip as the wound on Shen You’an’s, “When did you bite it open?”
“Huh?” Shen You’an stuck out her tongue and licked the spot Su Wu mentioned. There was indeed a cut on the soft skin of her lip. She hadn’t noticed it herself. She probably accidentally bit it just now when Su Wu was teaching her billiards, just to keep herself awake. She touched it with her fingertip; it had stopped bleeding long ago.
“I forgot,” she lied, “It’s not important, it’ll be better by tomorrow!” In reality, it would likely heal in a few moments.
Su Wu gave a hum and put some food in her bowl, signaling her to continue eating.
After returning home, Su Wu suddenly pulled a little hamburger out of her bag.
Shen You’an was surprised: “How is this here!”
Su Wu said: “I asked for it.”
“For you.”
She watched the girl holding the little hamburger charm in her hands, fiddling with it, and asked with a smile: “Shen You’an, is it still a case of ‘nice to have, but okay if not’?”
Shen You’an shook her head and shielded the small charm in her arms: “I want to take that back!”
“Actually, I regretted it a bit just now. I should have spoken up to Meng Dongdong. It’s not that I liked this little hamburger so much, but rather that it was something you won back, A-jie.” Shen You’an smiled softly, “It should be kept as a memento no matter what. A-jie, I’m going to keep it safe.”
“Shen You’an.”
“Mhm?”
Su Wu said: “In the future, continue to be like this.”
“Whatever you like, whatever you want, you can tell me.”
She always hoped she could trust her a bit more, and rely on her a little more.
Shen You’an said she understood, then stole several peeks at Su Wu, looking as if she wanted to say something.
Su Wu felt helpless: “What do you want to say? Just say it.”
Shen You’an gripped the little hamburger in her palm; it seemed to still carry Su Wu’s lingering scent.
“I like A-jie.” She kept her head down, stole only one glance at Su Wu, then quickly stared at the floor, “A-jie was so amazing today.”
The air went silent for a moment.
Shen You’an’s face burned red because of it.
“I… I just spoke from the heart.” Would Su Wu think she’s a pervert? Saying something like that?!
Su Wu let out a soft sigh and grabbed the rabbit who wanted to run: “I’m the one being praised, and I’m not even shy yet. What are you running for?”
Shen You’an’s heart was screaming. She didn’t know why, but she just felt embarrassed! She used to shout “Sister I love you” to Shen Huaijin every day and didn’t feel weird at all! What’s going on! Have the times changed!
“Shen You’an, I’ve actually wanted to ask for a while.”
“What?”
“You’re a bit off today.” Su Wu’s gaze enveloped her entire being, “Acting spoiled to me, asking for help, saying these things.”
Su Wu paused, then asked: “Did something happen?”
