Chapter 68
Seeing that the woman seemed to want to sleep.
With her back turned to her, her head pressed against the pillow, and the quilt pulled up very high.
Shen You’an moved gently, tucking in the gap at the back where the quilt wasn’t snug against her. She was afraid the wind would crawl in and bully her, making her catch a cold or fall ill.
The marks on the back of the nightgown were unmistakable.
She had held her too tightly when they kissed, so her finger pads had left impressions. She had buried her head to kiss her neck and shoulders, so her lips had left traces.
It was all her doing. Every non-natural mark on Su Wu’s body was her handiwork.
A strange sense of satisfaction welled up in her heart—an unspeakable happiness. Why did leaving marks on a person make her this happy? It wasn’t like she was a puppy on the street obsessed with marking lamp-posts.
Could it be that her mutated lineage actually contained genes from that group? Was that something that could be detected by a DNA test? Like a genealogy ancestry test or something…
Shen You’an was both embarrassed and flushed, trying her best to say calmly: “A-jie, you rest then. I’m going back to the basement.”
Shen You’an: “If you need me, just call out. I can hear you.”
She would be like she was just now—like a little superhero, whoosh, flying upstairs in a flash.
Su Wu didn’t make a sound. The movement by her ear was real. The weight of the quilt was real.
Not a dream?
Su Wu gripped the edge of the quilt: “…Wait.”
Shen You’an: “Mhm?”
Su Wu: “Why didn’t you leave?”
Shen You’an: “You told me to wait a moment.”
Su Wu: “…That’s not what I meant. Why didn’t you leave?”
Shen You’an didn’t understand: “Leave? Go where? A-jie, do you need me to go somewhere for an errand?”
Facing this almost idiotic trust, Su Wu felt a bit irritated. She turned over, threw back the quilt, and sat up.
Su Wu: “Don’t you have anything you want to say to me?”
The question was asked coldly.
Shen You’an’s ears turned red: “Well, I do.”
Su Wu: “Ask.”
Shen You’an: “Is it okay?”
Su Wu: “I told you to ask.”
Shen You’an: “Oh—”
She elongated the sound, deliberating for a long time. She cared, yet she didn’t dare look directly into Su Wu’s eyes. She crouched down, tilting her head up by the bedside: “A-jie, are… are you okay?”
What kind of question was that? Su Wu frowned.
Shen You’an, however, misunderstood and thought she was uncomfortable. She immediately reflected: “I’m sorry. Yesterday was my fault. I was too much. It was my bad; I didn’t control myself.”
Wrong.
It turned out that in Shen You’an’s eyes, yesterday—and probably including today—everything that had happened was a “mistake.”
Su Wu didn’t want to ask further.
But Shen You’an was very concerned: “A-jie, then… how is it there?”
Su Wu: “Where?”
Having to say these words was nearly the death of Shen You’an.
“Down there,” she whispered.
Su Wu: “…………”
Su Wu’s ears turned red: “It’s fine.”
Shen You’an clearly didn’t believe her: “Really?”
Su Wu glanced at her sideways: “Otherwise?”
Shen You’an muttered: “Yesterday A-jie kept saying things like ‘going to break’ or ‘going to rot,’ I thought—”
She couldn’t finish the sentence.
Su Wu raised her hand and covered the girl’s lips. The red from her ears spread to her cheeks.
How could she remember those words—uttered in a moment of uncontrollable passion—so clearly? And when did she say those things? She clearly said…
Break… me.
She didn’t know if You’an’s memory was poor or too good.
Su Wu stared at her: “Other than that, nothing else to ask?”
Shen You’an tilted her head. Other things? What else should she ask?
A-jie had already told her that no one at Tian’ai was hurt, Shen Huaijin and Meng Xi were well, and the reason for her being here presumably had an explanation.
Ah! There was actually one.
Seeing that Shen You’an had thought of something, Su Wu said: “Ask.”
Hurry up and sentence me to death.
Shen You’an: “A-jie, did you help me call in sick to school?”
Su Wu took a deep breath: “…I did.”
Su Wu: “Aside from that, anything else?”
Shen You’an thought for a moment: “There is one thing, but I don’t know if A-jie is willing to talk about it.”
Su Wu thought: This is the one. She lowered her gaze: “Ask.”
Shen You’an: “A-jie, the scars and tattoos on your legs… do they hurt?”
Su Wu looked at the girl crouching by her bed.
“Is that all you want to ask?” A rare storm was gathering in her calm voice. “Why you fainted in the consultation room, why I locked you in the basement, why I changed my attitude toward you… Shen You’an, none of these—you don’t want to ask about any of them?”
She brutally tore away the veil of decency. She was forcing Shen You’an to look directly at her wretchedness.
One second, two seconds. In the quiet, silent wait, Su Wu counted down the arrival of the judgment.
The girl’s voice was firm and direct: “A-jie, I don’t want to ask about any of those.”
Su Wu was stunned: “…Why?”
Does she not care at all? Can I not even get a single shred of hate?
Her hand was carefully taken—politely, just hooking the little finger she had left outside the quilt.
Shen You’an smiled, saying matter-of-factly: “Because I already know, so I don’t want to ask, and I don’t need to.”
“I know why A-jie brought me here and locked me downstairs.” She hooked Su Wu’s fingertip like making a pinky promise. “I told you from the start, A-jie, I’m here. I didn’t leave you. We made a pact—if I feel like my sins are heavy, I’ll stay by your side and obediently make amends.”
—You know nothing.
Su Wu looked at her bright face. Absurd images flashed in her mind again, and she looked away. Shen You’an clearly thought of something too, tilting her head and not daring to continue the direct gaze.
Even now, Shen You’an felt as though the lingering scent was still at the tip of her nose and in her mouth. She liked it so much.
But did A-jie like it? She looked like she liked it very much yesterday; she was unwilling to let her go even at the end. She hadn’t expected the usually cold and indifferent A-jie to be so greedy in that matter.
Unable to leave for even a moment—she had to keep it clamped. One finger wasn’t enough; she’d twist her waist and demand two.
She really looked like she loved it. It made Shen You’an want to spend all her strength to satisfy her.
But when she carried Su Wu to bed and cleaned up the aftermath, Shen You’an thought of something else. The report that had been on the experimental table—white paper, black ink, plain as day.
Shen You’an lowered her head, admitting her fault honestly: “A-jie, I’m sorry.”
Su Wu: “What are you apologizing for now?” Her tone was already somewhat helpless.
Shen You’an: “Because… because of my constitution, I caused you to… yesterday… that ‘pro-pro-pro-pro-pro-lust reaction’!”
She truly couldn’t say those two words objectively and calmly to Su Wu in this situation.
Su Wu understood. It turned out Shen You’an had taken all the blame on herself, thinking that the wanton chaos earlier was entirely because of her constitution.
The answer was actually half-right. Su Wu remained silent, gazing at her.
Shen You’an said hurriedly: “A-jie, I will definitely take responsibility! If you feel uncomfortable anywhere, you must tell me!”
Su Wu nodded: “I am feeling a bit uncomfortable.”
Shen You’an worried: “Where? Where?”
Su Wu didn’t speak; her gaze shifted downward.
Shen You’an never felt she could understand all the subtle meanings so quickly. Without even noticing, she had already swallowed.
She spoke very urgently: “Does it really still hurt? I’m sorry.” She condemned herself, cursed herself.
When A-jie said deeper, it was deeper; when she said heavier, it was heavier—she had listened. When A-jie said “no,” she played deaf.
Shen You’an, you’re truly shameless.
“It doesn’t exactly hurt,” Su Wu said.
Shen You’an’s brow furrowed: “Then what is it?”
What happened to her flower-like treasure?
“It’s a bit… empty,” Su Wu said. “Uncomfortable.”
“Empty?” Shen You’an was blank; her mind went blank along with it. She understood “pain,” but what did “empty” mean? What did that feel like?
“I just feel like something is missing,” Su Wu said with a straight face. “Is the influence not over yet?”
Ah?
Huh?!
Missing something—
Shen You’an’s fingertips began to burn. The tactile nerves on her skin recalled certain scenes before her brain did.
She was a bit at a loss: “It’s not over?”
She only took one bite of blood, and didn’t suck for long—was the effect this powerful? Or did she accidentally stuff in some other things of hers that could secrete those strange substances and bring about mysterious influences while she was “eating” Su Wu?
Like when she was at her face.
Shen You’an’s brain automatically completed certain logic. Her face turned red: “Then… A-jie, shall I help you?”
Su Wu propped herself up with her hands behind her, watching her: “You know how now?”
The tone was exactly like a teacher asking a question during a homework check. The situation was indeed a bit similar.
The first time Shen You’an went in, Su Wu had taught her step-by-step. How could Shen You’an have known otherwise? Her mouth was one thing—everyone knows how to eat—but other things were different.
What was that saying? The master leads you through the door, but the practice depends on the individual.
To what extent she actually knew how, Shen You’an didn’t dare to boast. But keeping Su Wu hugging her, tears welling in the corners of her eyes, incoherently wanting it then not wanting it—that was no problem.
She blinked, nervously swallowing several times, looking at Su Wu. She wanted to kiss her everywhere but didn’t know where to start.
Su Wu gave a light chuckle, lowered her head, and cupped her face: “In a hurry?”
Shen You’an shook her head, yet her eyes remained glued to Su Wu.
Su Wu felt a surge of gratification in her heart. Even the most wretched means could yield so much joy.
“Do you want to kiss?” she asked airily.
It was as if it were an ordinary question. Like, do you want to eat? Want to go out? Want some water? It was that kind of question.
But Shen You’an’s heart pounded wildly. She licked her lips: “Can we kiss with our mouths open?”
Su Wu laughed: “We can.”
“You’an, I told you—you can do whatever you want.”
