Chapter 67
The basement.
The clinking and clanging of metal had become the constant background noise in this cold, desolate space.
Shen You’an didn’t know how much time had passed.
Thanks for the invite. Currently at the “fountain,” recovering health and drinking water—and she simply couldn’t get enough.
In the past, Su Wu was always worried about her habit of not liking to drink water. Every day before heading out, she would remind You’an to bring her water bottle and strictly mandated that she finish three glasses a day. The specialized watch would even record her hydration times, vibrating at intervals to issue a reminder.
Now, things were different.
She felt like she had never loved drinking water this much in her entire life.
Water is the source of life.
It is also the fire of life.
Sometimes, Shen You’an suspected that she wasn’t drinking water, but cans of gasoline. Otherwise, how could her little fire be fueled so excessively by every sip?
The tip of Shen You’an’s nose was damp. She didn’t know any proper technique; she only followed instinct. Of course, she hadn’t ignored the eerily terrifying scars and tattoos on Su Wu’s body. They were densely interlaced, a hidden past laid out across snowy-white skin.
How did A-jie get these? Who did it?
After finishing a round, she supported Su Wu’s limp waist and looked at these strange marks.
“A-jie? Does it hurt?”
The steam, heated scalding by the “water,” puffed against a hidden tattoo.
Su Wu didn’t answer. Her hands, gripping You’an’s hair and bracing against her shoulders, tightened. In a raspy voice, she said: “Continue.”
But she couldn’t continue.
Shen You’an felt like Su Wu could barely remain upright. Even with the mattress being soft, supporting herself with her waist and thigh strength for so long was more than her knees could take. You’an had even lent her tail, wrapping it around the woman’s waist to provide some support.
She changed positions, lying down and gathering Su Wu’s legs in her hands.
“A-jie.”
Su Wu looked at her, the corners of her eyes flushed red.
“Don’t push yourself.” Shen You’an patted the woman’s trembling muscles, kneading them gently. However, the words she spoke were: “Sit over here.”
A monster is truly a natural-born talent when it comes to hunting.
When Su Wu, for certain reasons, tried to close her legs, You’an’s hands—gentle yet undeniable—kept her exactly as she was.
Su Wu moaned, saying no, stop, it’s going to go dry.
Shen You’an knew very well.
It wouldn’t. Not even a little.
But the “doing” could go on for a long time.
It turned out such a small place held so many wonders. The phrase “a whole new world” was something Shen You’an fully understood today.
She vaguely felt she was being a bit excessive, a bit out of control. Gentleness and malice were perfectly blended within her. She cared about Su Wu’s feelings at every moment, yet she acted on her own whims without a word. She thought that if A-jie hated it, if she resisted too much, she would stop. She still had that much self-control.
But Su Wu’s reaction was like pouring oil on a fire.
She had never seen Su Wu so indulgent. At first, there was a faint restraint, but later she stopped caring—she couldn’t care. Her reactions were so intense that Shen You’an felt like she was about to burn up.
Every part of her was hot. Her heart, her face, her mouth, her tongue. Even her fingertips were burning.
She wanted to devour Su Wu, but it wasn’t like a wild beast encountering a rabbit—biting the neck, snapping the bone, tearing the flesh for survival. It was something else, something entirely different.
I love her so much, so much, so much.
She loved her trembling, her soft waist, her voice, and the bloody marks she left on You’an’s body without restraint. Every point proved it to her desperately: Shen You’an, you’re doing great. You’re making her feel comfortable, happy, and overwhelmed.
Finally, Su Wu lay down, turning into a soft pile of white clay beside her. Looking at the girl’s messy face, shimmering lips, and damp bangs, Su Wu couldn’t resist leaning in for a kiss.
Shen You’an dodged.
Su Wu froze. She gave a bitter smile.
Shen You’an said embarrassedly: “I just touched there, A-jie.”
Su Wu was left speechless. She grabbed her forcefully and kissed her anyway.
Shen You’an is so strange, Su Wu thought as she kissed her. All the scandalous things had been done, all the messy words had been spoken, yet now that things had cooled just a fraction, over the most normal of things, she actually turned shy.
What did it matter if she’d touched there? She just wanted to kiss her.
It still wasn’t enough.
The kiss went deep, her tongue intruding just as she had explored the “secret realm” moments ago. But it still wasn’t enough. Su Wu’s body felt empty; her heart felt empty. Everything that had just happened wasn’t enough to make her feel satisfied.
She toyed with Shen You’an’s hand. Beneath You’an’s blank expression, she lifted it and took half of her knuckles into her mouth.
Shen You’an’s heart raced wildly. She felt like another magical door was about to be opened.
In fact, the fact that Shen You’an’s math scores were only in the double digits was quite strange. She wasn’t stupid at all. In certain matters, her learning speed and her ability to apply logic were that of a genius.
A second before she blacked out, a thought drifted through Su Wu’s mind. She was probably doomed. Even with things heated to this point, a voice in the depths of her soul was still saying: Still. Not. Enough.
How could she merge into one with the person in front of her—the person she had kept in her heart for so many years? Would it be possible to throw them into an alchemist’s furnace and remold them? Or, just as a mother’s womb tightly envelops a fetus, she wanted to envelop everything about her, swallowing it all without leaving a trace.
All her anxiety, worry, fear, despair, and the daily, unceasing longing were all wrapped up inside.
Witnessing Shen You’an fall before her, unresponsive, breathless, replaced by a black shadow monster… in that moment, Su Wu’s nerves throbbed with a needle-like pain. This time, I might not be able to keep this person.
She’s usually so good, why couldn’t she be a bit more obedient at a time like this? Is protecting others that important? Everyone has their own fate; interfering in someone else’s karma means trading a life for a life. And that damn quicksand illusion—stepping in just like that, only to come out unconscious.
What else do I have to keep her?
The tenderness no one else had seen, she gave it. The unprecedented care, she gave it. She considered everything, practiced restraint, yet in the end, she was still left behind.
Shen You’an, what else can keep you?
—Only this insignificant body.
This body you’ve craved, longed for, and devoured while gripping its waist in a trance.
Su Wu never thought she would one day fall to this level, but pathetically, in this “lowly” fall, she found a subtle sense of security. It turned out Shen You’an could lose control for her too. Even if she couldn’t tell if it was because of appetite or something else.
Being embraced by her, possessed by her, licked by her. Every reaction of her body pulled at Su Wu’s nerves, screaming to her: Shen You’an is alive.
Living through her own body.
Her heart, which trembled and didn’t dare to pray for love, found unexpected satisfaction in these base acts.
One last time, she thought indulgently: Su Wu, one last time.
In reality, it was much more than once.
Exhausted to the point of “dying” and “coming back to life” repeatedly, Su Wu finally lost consciousness, unwillingly.
When she woke up again, she was lying in the bed of the master bedroom in the seaside villa’s ocean-view room. Her body felt clean; she was wearing silk pajamas. Even such soft fabric made her chest feel a bit sore.
Su Wu didn’t frown; she even moved to intentionally feel the pain twice. To confirm the reality.
On the nightstand sat a thoughtfully placed water cup—a thermos—with a note attached. Shen You’an’s handwriting was unmistakable.
[Remember to drink water when you wake up]
Everything was so familiar. Su Wu was suddenly transported back to the first time Shen You’an had sucked her blood—the two of them were right here. When she woke up then, it was exactly like this. She was treated with care, but Shen You’an was gone.
She left.
Su Wu sat up, leaning against the bed, watching the soft white gauze curtains soften the glaring sunlight. How long had they been crazy in the basement? Su Wu didn’t look at the time, but the sunlight told her it was clearly afternoon.
The familiar silver sensation on her wrist was gone. Su Wu’s heart tightened, but then she gave a self-deprecating laugh. As expected. It was just as she had imagined. She just hadn’t expected Shen You’an to even take back the bracelet she’d given her.
Su Wu stared blankly into space. Her indulgence had ruined everything. If she could have been more restrained, more patient, handled her emotions better, and not—for that shameful bit of selfishness—taken Shen You’an away, locked her up, kissed her like a madwoman, and seduced her—
She had ruined everything.
She thought she would break down or feel anxious, but Su Wu felt nothing but a strange peace.
Ah…
Finally, there’s no need to hide anymore.
The act hadn’t been exhausting—she had enjoyed it—but chasing a sun that offered no hope was truly grueling. So be it. She didn’t even know if Shen You’an had fled home, or if she would tell Shen Huaijin and Meng Xi about everything here.
What expression would the girl have when she hated her? In those beautiful eyes, there should be fire as she said, “Su Wu, you’re disgusting.”
She expressionlessly opened the thermos and took a sip. Warm and sweet—honey.
Even to someone she hates, she has to be this considerate?
How was she supposed to let go?
She braced herself against the bed to stand up. Her legs were weak, and certain places were incredibly sore. She hadn’t felt it during the chaos, but now that she was sober, she realized that the shape of fingers really could be left behind.
Things end up like this when it’s too long and too intense. With every step she took, she still felt like You’an was inside her, but she wasn’t. Nothing existed.
Su Wu opened the bedroom door, preparing to walk downstairs, when she heard the sound of thumping footsteps. Shen You’an was practically flying up the stairs.
She cried out: “A-jie! Why are you out of bed!”
Su Wu: “……….”
Su Wu: “……….?”
She narrowed her eyes, confirming again and again, then asked in confusion: “You didn’t leave?”
Shen You’an: “Why would I leave?”
While speaking, she walked over, wrapped her arms around her, and lifted her up in one go. Su Wu didn’t know where to put her hands; Shen You’an guided her to wrap them around her own neck and placed her back on the bed.
A-jie is so cute. Even though she’d been proactive in the basement, knowing how to wrap her arms around You’an’s neck better than anyone… now she was flustered again.
Shen You’an wanted to kiss her, but restrained herself. She knew that what she’d done earlier was a bit beastly; she couldn’t be that casual now.
Shen You’an: “I was just cleaning up downstairs. The basement was a bit of a mess, the sheets were unusable, so I carried you up. I heard you open the door and figured you were awake. A-jie, were you looking for something? I’ll help you find it. You—”
She glanced at Su Wu’s waist and legs, her face flushing red. “Tell me what you need, I’m here.”
Su Wu didn’t speak, just looked at her.
Sensing her gaze on her hands, Shen You’an realized and said quickly, “I’m not running. I just came to check on you. When you’re feeling better, I’ll go back to the basement.”
She was being considerate to an excessive degree: “A-jie, you don’t need to go down, the stairs are hard to navigate. I can tie myself up.”
Su Wu: “…”
She closed her eyes, turned around, and pulled up the covers.
Alright, Su Wu thought.
She never knew she was so good at dreaming.
