After Transmigrating into a Book, I Became the Vicious Female Supporting Lead - Chapter 22
Nan Dan moved his rag absentmindedly across the table, his eyes constantly drifting toward Lin Qiyan, who was currently drinking water. He hadn’t decided whether to strike up a conversation when the wind chimes rang again.
Lin Qiyan quickly set down her glass and smiled. “Welcome!”
Tang Ziqian, who was closing the door, paused and looked over in surprise.
Lin Qiyan: “…”
Seriously, the stream of acquaintances is never-ending, isn’t it?
Mu Yunge walked over naturally and asked with a smile, “Yan Yan, how much longer until you’re off the clock?”
Lin Qiyan glanced at the clock on the wall. “Almost there.”
Mu Yunge nodded, then pulled back her smile to look at Tang Ziqian, who was dazing in the back. “Aren’t you getting milk tea?”
Tang Ziqian looked devastated. “Yunge, I just had it yesterday. Drinking it two days in a row will make me ugly. Is it really okay for you to trample over your childhood friend just to see her?”
Mu Yunge arched a brow. “You’re really not drinking it?”
Lin Qiyan raised a hand, about to suggest that if she didn’t want it, they should forget about it.
On the other side, Tang Ziqian grieved alone for a moment before making a final, resolute decision: “Since I’m already here…”
Lin Qiyan: “…”
She closed her mouth and lowered her hand.
Behind them, Nan Dan was completely dumbstruck. Why did Lin Qiyan seem so familiar with these two? Was that beautiful girl really Mu Yunge? The top student of the grade, the legendary daughter of a wealthy and powerful family—the unattainable top-tier Alpha?
His expression was practically fracturing. What was wrong with this world? Was he dreaming?
It wasn’t until Lin Qiyan called him twice, and Nan Yu had even come out from the back to hand over the milk tea and pat him on the shoulder, that Nan Dan finally snapped out of it.
Nan Yu: “Xiao Dan, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”
Nan Dan shook his head dazedly, his gaze drifting as he watched Lin Qiyan continue to chat and laugh with those two.
Does Mu Yunge actually have such a good temper? Her smile is so beautiful; must be very comfortable to be around her.
Mu Yunge sensed a strange gaze. Her smile vanished, and her cold, piercing eyes swept across the still-dazed Nan Dan, narrowing slightly. Nan Dan snapped awake instantly, a chill running through his heart. When he looked again, the eye contact felt like an illusion—Mu Yunge was back to her smiling, graceful self.
But the hair-raising sensation didn’t feel fake. He hugged his arms, shivered, and hurried off to do something else.
Tang Ziqian couldn’t wait and took a sip of her milk tea, but her brow furrowed the moment it hit her tongue. She swallowed and said suspiciously, “Why does the taste feel different? This is a bit too sweet; it’s not as good as yesterday’s.”
The two were sitting on high stools at the side of the bar. Hearing this, Mu Yunge propped her chin on her hand and curled her lips.
Lin Qiyan: “Hmm? You guys came yesterday too?”
Tang Ziqian nodded. “Roughly around this same time. Oh, did you just start today? I didn’t see you yesterday.”
Lin Qiyan shook her head. “I was here last night. If you came then, I must have been in the back making the tea.”
Tang Ziqian: “Making tea? You can do that too?” Then her eyes widened slightly. “Wait, was the cup I drank yesterday made by you?”
Lin Qiyan: “It’s possible…”
Tang Ziqian looked at the person sitting next to her, who had her eyelashes half-lowered and was spinning a straw between her fingertips. “Yunge, you knew all along? Is that why you brought me here?”
Mu Yunge didn’t even look up as she replied, “Why would I do that?”
Tang Ziqian looked at Lin Qiyan and proposed a conspiracy theory: “You did it just so I’d have a good impression of your new favorite.”
“…”
Lin Qiyan: “???”
Mu Yunge finally lifted her eyelids and critiqued: “Tang Ziqian, you really are ‘clever’ to death.”
The night was dotted with stars. Under Tang Ziqian’s indescribable gaze, Mu Yunge played the “pitiable card” without any psychological burden and followed Lin Qiyan home.
The small apartment was no different from her last visit. This time, Mu Yunge had brought a few items, clearly treating this place as a second home.
Lin Qiyan: “Yunge, you should shower first.”
Mu Yunge shook her head. “Yan Yan, I’m so tired. I need to rest for a bit first. You go ahead.” She was already sitting on the sofa; as she finished speaking, she simply closed her eyes.
Lin Qiyan: “…”
She didn’t make a fuss. She gathered clothes for both herself and Mu Yunge and headed to the bathroom.
The moment the door closed, Mu Yunge opened her eyes. Her dark gaze was cold and calm. She stood up and did a quick walkthrough of the apartment before stopping at the desk. She stared quietly at Lin Qiyan’s schoolbag for a moment before looking away.
Lin Qiyan didn’t take long to shower. When she came out, Mu Yunge was sitting on the sofa playing with her phone. Hearing the movement, she looked up and smiled at Lin Qiyan. “Yan Yan, it seems we don’t have each other’s contact info yet.”
Lin Qiyan realized she was right. She grabbed her phone, and the two added each other as friends.
Mu Yunge set her phone aside, spoke briefly to Lin Qiyan, and took her things into the bathroom. Inside, the room was filled with mist, the moisture carrying a dense floral fragrance that drifted through the air.
Mu Yunge closed her eyes for a moment.
